I upgraded from a 11PM to a 13PM 512. I had several issues setting it up. It is through Verizon. I noticed the PRL was only the number 1. Tech support was less than helpful. Apple was a bit more helpful, but my main Verizon store was closed so I went to Walmart Mart and the guy that runs all the phones said it's 100% fine. Because the 13 unlike older Verizon phones was not designed to use 3G and so now PRL's are not needed on LTE and 5G. Can anyone confirm this so I have peace of mind.... Check under your Carrier settings and see if you have a PRL of 1. Or if you know that guy told me the truth. I have gone through hell getting these phones. 3 orders done wrong, 4th finally got here a week late, I started this process in Oct. The phones seem to work fine, and are amazingly fast.... I love it. I just want no issues if I go on a road trip or there's an emergency with my wife. Thanks guys...

My iPhone 13 Pro Max Verizon phone has a PRL of 1 also. On my phone I only have cellular data options of LTE or 5G to use. I know I haven't seen a 3G option on my iPhones since I think the XS Max on Verizon.

I think it was the iPhone 12 that first ditched CDMA.

So yeah, it's not needed. The fact there's an entry in there at all is possibly more down to backwards compatibility than anything else.

You're fine.

Thanks guys. Just needed peace of mind. Getting the phone was hell and my wife had a miscarriage, my moms very sick in a nursing home, it’s been a very rough 2 months.

I have PRL of 1 on Verizon with 13 mini.

Verizon doesn’t even use 3g anymore if I remember correctly something I read in the last two years.

PRL 1 here too on Verizon, iPhone 13 Pro Max. IIRC, Verizon is still in the process of shutting down 3G and they're behind schedule. It's *supposed* to be completely gone by 12/31 of this year, but who knows? Perhaps in some rural areas they haven't gotten to it yet. I believe their plan is to replace the 3G antennas with 5G antennas but some sites don't have the necessary backhaul in place to make it happen.
