I’m looking to purchase a Pro XDR used, to be paired with my new M2 Ultra Studio. Reading this review, the XDR supports all Studio modern features. Can any of the M2 Studio owners share more insights what these supported features might be? I only see officially supported the M1 Studio.

Apple is working on a new XDR, so I plan to buy a second old model XDR later on. I plan to keep my new Studio and the XDR until the software upgrades are not provided anymore, that’s probably 9-10 years. Thank you.

Hello-

I've had the M1 Ultra since it became available and two Pro Display XDRs. I'm not sure what the M2 Ultra has over the M1 Ultra with respect to display 'advanced features', other than possible support for more displays, and improvements in HDMI support.

But as far as the XDR / Mac Studio pairing is concerned, I'm still 100% satisfied with my purchase decision. I write iOS code full-time and my setup is pretty sweet, and a real treat to use every day. One great thing is having one display rotated 90 deg, which helps with editing longer source code files - where seeing more text [vertically] really helps a lot.

Color accuracy and uniformity across 32" is another aspect where the XDR shines. I look at large screen wireframe documents all the time, and can see fine details wherever I look without having to constantly zoom in.

Your strategy to invest in the XDRs and keep [forever] is a good one. Upgrades to the Mac will happen over time, but the monitors are keepers. I still have an Apple 23" Cinema Display connected to a musical instrument setup I play with from time to time - still has a quality image!
