Got a new Pro about a month ago and have always had this problem. It comes in three forms:

1. Turning on from shut down - white screen loads with apple logo in middle - nothing else happens.

2. Turning on from shut down - white screen loads with apple logo in middle, (loading) icon appears and moves for 7 seconds then pauses - nothing else happens.

3. Waking up from sleep - press buttons, click mousepad etc.. screen stays black sleep light flashes slowly.

When all these things happen I have no other choice but to hold on the power button and turn off and turn back on (which I hate doing) , 1+2 could happen 3 or 4 times before it finally turns on.

Thought I would get some feedback here before I contact Apple.....

Thanks in advance,

Could be a few things...

Corrupt installation of OS X, a dying/faulty hard drive or even bad RAM modules.

Most definitely take it in to Apple and let them deal with it, that's what warranties are for.

try archive/install, if it doesn't get better, take it to the Apple Store. It sounds like it could also be a failing HD.

Trying reinstalling OSX, if that doesnt work dont mess around and take it back to the store
