Hi,

I've been given a Macbook Pro from work but the disc drive doesn't play CDs or DVDs.

It takes the disc and sounds like it's firing up to play but then drops, fires up, drops and ejects.

I've looked about, tried the Cmd, option, P and R restart for PRAM, no luck.

And also tried restoring the permissions.

Any ideas?

I've read many times about the drive failing.
You may need a new drive.
I would try a lens cleaner first though.
