I do not have anything capable of connecting to WiFi now so need some basic info.
1. Is there a fee to have your Ipod Touch internet ready?
2. Could I go to a free WiFi spot and actually see my e-mail and other web sites?

I have earthlink and when traveling and can use a computer I go to their on-line e-mail site. I would really like to be able to do that without a laptop, which I keep putting off buying because it's one more heavy item to pack.

If I understand what you're trying to ask, then ...

1. All iPod Touches are 'internet ready' by default. (802.11b/g WiFi)
2. Yes you can.

wifi capability is built in - no extra fee.

yes you'll have internet access at any free wifi hot spot.

1. There is no fee, the Ipod touch is internet ready with a WiFi connection. It does not connect to the internet any other way.

2. Yes, any place that has free WiFi will grant you access to use all internet-necessary applications on your touch.

For traveling the Ipod touch will only work if you have a WiFi connection.
