Probably a n00b question but...

I have an iMac running OS X 10.5.8 and I tried to connect the trackpad to it and for some reason it doesn't recognize other than to let me move the cursor around, i.e. no multi-touch gesturing, etc. Do I need to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard or Lion?

It needs Mac OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.4.
