A friend just got a replacement 4S from Applecare+. She is on Sprint. When trying to restore, the unit freezes at "syncing bookmarks" of which there aren't any. Additionally, does the phone need to be re-activated through Sprint separately? They sent her her SIM card back with the new phone. Sorry for the basic questions; new stuff for both of us.
