My macbook doesn't boot properly. after about 30 seconds it gives me the gray screen and tells me to reboot. my tech guy told me it's a corrupt file and he can fix it, BUT my cd rom is shot too (quality product huh?).

someone I work with has the same laptop. is it possible to firewire his laptop and put the cd rom in there and boot from his cd room? do i have any options other than buying a new cd rom or computer?
