Problem Connecting with shared macbooks

I am having difficulty with connecting to another mac book (both running leopard 10.4.1), over the same wireless network.

All our file sharing options are the same, and the other macbook can connect with me as a guest, and drop files etc, but when i try to connect to it, i get a message stating, that connection has failed, cannot find ip address, or the server is not available?

so the problem is only one way although all our sharing options, and guest preferences are the same.

any help would be much appreciated.
