Problem deleting folder in TC backup

I'm trying to delete all instances of a folder in a TC backup (yes I really want to...). I enter TC, two-finger click, choose 'delete all instances..' (or whatever it says). It then asks me to confirm that I actually want to do it, then one of two things happens - 1. nothing or 2. it asks for my password then nothing.

Any ideas? It's OS X 10.9.5 on a MacBook Air if that makes a difference.
