I downloaded a .exe file and a .bin file in Tiger, but it said that it had no program to read the file extensions.... what do i do?

you dont have stuffit installed on your computer? it doesnt come with tiger. you can download stuffit extractor from the website and that will solve your problem!

is it video stuff?

sometimes .bin is related to VLC or Toast for videoCDs, but I doubt it unless you give us more info.

.bin files could be a whole bunch of different things.

* MacBinary file (decompress with Stuffit Expander)
* Sega Genesis ROM file (play with a Sega Genesis emulator, like Generator)
* "straight binary" file (just about anything could have created it - numerous programs use this format)

The Video CD format is dat, not bin. However, bin (or, more specifically, cue and bin) is the image format used by a CD recording app on Windows (Gold Hawk or something). But you're half right about VLC, it's clever enough to be able to extract a Video CD dat out of a bin image on the fly :)

Note: This post is intended to increase your knowledge, not accuse you of being wrong

actually, i was trying to download instant messenger and it keeps giving me a .bin file
