I am trying to download the 2.2 firmware for my 2G iPhone. Last time i downloaded it i ended up with a folder that contains:

'018-4378-1.dmg' (Doesn't work)
'018-4380-1.dmg'
'Firmware' folder
'kernelcache.release.s5l8900x'
'Restore.plist'

The second dmg on the list opens up into lots of folders containing the firmware. But it isn't a ispw file...

Can anyone tell me what to do or give me another location please??

Thanks

PS. Another time when i downloaded i got another dmg that required a password. It's called '018-3782-2.dmg'. If anyone knows the password please say.

Why are you downloading 2.2?

Anyways here it is linky

It was jailbroken and unlocked.
2.2.1 screwed it up and now it doesn't recognize the Sim card. I want to downgrade to 2.2 and then jailbreak it again....

Since you already went to 2.2.1 you can't fix what you broke. 2.2.1 updated your baseband to an unlockable baseband. Even if you go back to 2.2, you'll still have the 2.2.1 baseband. So you're stuck. You should have followed the directions on how to go to 2.2.1 but keep your unlocked 2.2 baseband.

Are you sure you can't go back?
I saw on another forum that you can option-click on the restore button in iTunes and then chose the ispw file. Then chose 2.2

What you think? I'm downloading 2.2 again atm so will find out myself in about 30 mins :S

I'm assuming you have a 2G iphone correct? Since you it was unlocked over a year ago with ziphone *since the iphone 3g unlock didn't get released till new years of this year*

Sorry, missed the 2G part. My response was for a 3G.

jmann, the link you gave me downloads as a zip, but then gives me another bunch of folders with the same files. why can't i get the normal ispw??

You are probably on a mac using safari correct?

this is caused by safari automatically trying to extract the file for you. its a bitch.

Ok i managed to get the ipsw file just now.
Tried to restore via iTunes and i get the stupid 21 error again...
What to do??

With the new firmware i can't do anything unless i have the real Sim, which i don't. I want to downgrade, and then unlock it again.
