Is it possible to create users on a ext HD to save HD space on the mac mini?

How can I create a optimal structure Macmini & Ext HD

Can you give more info about what your setup is and what you want to accomplish?
What OS are you using?
What Mac Mini model, and specs?
Are you wanting to use an external HDD or SSD?

I am unsure if you can save a whole user folder to a disk separate to your boot drive, but there are other options.

You can store some app data and files to separate disks.

You can use the external drive as your boot drive.

You could make a Fusion Drive using your internal drive and an external drive.

Give use some more info, because depending on what you currently have, and what you want to do, there are a bunch of potential options for you.

My goal is to have my user on the mac mini but other family members on ext HDD

How does a Fusion Drive work?
I suscribe on Adobe cc. Is it possible to install some of this on the ext HDD?

Is your internal drive small? Which Samsung device? T5 or T7 512-1TB are popular.

NetInfo Manager was removed from OS X but made it easy.
Yes ~/ can or use to be able to point asnywhere but there can be problems if and when tyhe ext drive is not mounted - that Volume and contents gets created on the boot drive under ./Volumes

Avoid Fusion setup like the plague.

I have my user folder on an external SSD. You just need to go to system settings, click the User and groups. Press control and select the user, that will show you a pop-up menu. There you can select the drive where your user folder is located. I just copied my whole folder on the external drive and then selected it. Just to be sure I made an admin user on the internal drive that I can use if something unexpected would happen.
