Problem importing .mov file from kodak M893IS to iphoto.. i need this video

When i plug in the camera to my macbook, it opens up in iphoto and i try and select the video to import but the file in iphoto is all grey and when i select import it just doesn't respond and i have to force quit it. I cant open it with quicktime or with image capture i think its because it is a .mov file?? any help is very appreciated. I need this video for school. Thank you in advance

.mov is Quicktime format.

What error does Quicktime give when you try to open the file?

Do you have Perian installed? If not, install and try again.

If Perian is installed and it still doesn't play in Quicktime, can you provide a sample clip?
