Hi,
I am writing here to ask for help with a problem that occurred yesterday on my iMac
I have scoured these forums looking for similar problems but have found none.
Apologies in advance if this is posted in the wrong section.
Problem:
I am not 100% what has occurred, but it seems that my Home Folder volume has been renamed. - Or so it seems to the OS.
My Volume is named 'Home Drive' in finder
However after a reboot, my desktop booted to a 'brand new' account. It seems it could not locate any of my user pref. Files, Folders etc. So it started 'blank'. I hope this makes sense.
After further investigation, I found that by going to Users/Accounts in System Preferences I could change the directory my user account was pointed to.
I thought I found the fix, But insead of being named 'Home Drive' in user accounts, (as it was still pointed to)
I could select the right user home folders etc. but the volume now displays as 'Home Drive 1'.
I pointed the user to this directory & it boots up as usual. But there is still problems with other programs/software that I have been using that search for 'Home Drive' without luck & thus, start like new & require setup or forget my settings. An example is iTunes & most Apple programs ask me to accept the licence on startup. Or Lightroom cannot find my catalog file.
I have renamed the 'Home Drive 1' volume in finder back to 'Home Drive'
But it has not fixed the problem.
It seems the OS still thinks? there is 2 volumes with the same name & continues problems.
I realise this post sounds confusing, but if somebody can help with this I'd greatly appreciate it. & even be willing to donate some money via PayPal to them, or to a charity of their choosing.
