Problem: iTunes 10.4 and OS X 10.5.8

Downloaded iTunes 10.4 on 8/4/2011 using software update. Running G5 with OS X 10.5.8. iTunes will no longer open iTunes Store or recognize iPod or IPhone. iTunes 10.3.1 worked before upload. Also downloaded iTunes 10.4 and reinstalled with same results. Any others with same problem or is this unique to my configuration? Any solution available?
