I have a 333Mhz Lombard that I have been making minor updates to in order for my 8-year old to use. It originally had two 64MB sticks in it and I have replaced the top stick with a 256MB one out of her old iMac. The last thing I did was to replace the 4Gig HD with a Hitachi 40Gig. That's where my problems began. I had OS X 10.3 installed on the 4 Gig and it worked fine, also the upgraded memory worked fine. I installed the 40 Gig HD and initialized it with the disk utility on my 10.3 install disk. Following that, I did a clean install of 10.3, using both disks. The machine rebooted and I did the welcome set up stuff. Everything looked like it was going fine.
At this time I unplugged the power brick and carried it into the office where the network hub is located. I plugged it into the network and rebooted. What greeted me was a second of Apple logo and then the circle with a slash. This now happens on every boot.
I should mention that the battery is shot, and won't even register in the machine. Also, it appears that the backup battery is kaput as well. It worked fine on the A/C, and that was how I intended for it to be used.
Now, the CD drive doesn't even seem to operate as I can't get it to boot off of the Install CD (or even hear it spin) when I try to boot it up holding down "c"
The HD I installed is a Hitachi ATA-6 drive that OWC recommended for the Lombard on their website.
Is there any key combo that anyone can recommend trying to see if I can breathe life back into this poor little PowerBook? I think my next step is to reinstall the 4 Gig drive and see if it boots off of that.

Also, does anyone know what the circle/slash signifies? I don't know what you call that and haven't been able to google or apple support any info on it.

TIA,
Rob
