Problem met when changing the shortcut keys of Mac OS

Hi everyone,
I am a new comer and I just met a problem:
I opened System->System Pref->Text&Lang->Input Source->Keyboard Shortcut->Language&Input,
and then double-clicked the item I wanted to change the shortcut key for as it was instructed, but then nothing showed up. And I continue to follow the instruction to hold the new shortcut keys, but nothing happened,nothing changed.

How can I deal with this?

Try clicking to the right of the text of the item rather than on the text itself (i.e. where the shortcut for the item will be listed, not the item).
