Problem:Photo Library and transcend jet drive

Hi

i am running out of space on my macbook and want to export my photo library to a new transcend jet drive (256gb).
My library is 120gb. My transcend is formatted (exFat). I have successfully exported the library, but my transcend is full now, showing only 5GB of free space.
How is it possible ? it should show 140GB of free space.
Do you see a solution ?
