So I tried to install windows 7 as a partition as many mac users do but unfortunately did it wrong.
Once I finally entered the Mac OS again I deleted the windows partition and decided to try again and reinstall at a later date.
However, now each time i start my macbook up, i get the black screen saying 'Insert boot, press any key'. I hold ALT down on start up now and am given 2 disk images; Macintosh HD and Recovery.

How do I get rid of this so i don't have to hold ALT each time i boot up?
Cheers

It's normal to see the "Recovery" partition, as this has been a feature of OS X since Lion.

I'm not sure why your mac isn't just booting from the OS X partition. Have you tried selecting it as the startup disk in System Preferences?

Go to preferences and choose startup disk. Then select your Macintosh HD as default startup disk.
