Hi, I’ve just used iTunes for first time, I started by Ripping a CD to MP3 then I Dragged & Dropped the songs into a folder on my Desktop then Dragged & Dropped the Folder on to my Flash Drive & when I tried it in the Car the album looked OK & all the songs played well but the problem was under the album it said UNKNOWN then when I clicked on it it showed a list of all the songs each one had a dot and a line in front of them & they wouldn’t play. Not sure how to sort it out, Any advice would be appreciated. John.

I didn’t get the difference between working and not.

There are lots of different implementations of this. I can think of a few things that may go wrong. Did iTunes tag the songs before you copied them? Does your car use gracenote or some other database that may need to be updated? Does your car require a certain folder structure on the flash drive?

My experience with doing exactly what you as seeking is that
A. Car audio playing firmware does not like a folder structure. All files need to be at the top level (i.e.not within a folder)
B. Apple files are stored as two files with the same name. There's a .XXX file and a XXX.mp3(e.g) file. Car audio playing firmware doesn't like the .XXX file and won't play it. If you use the file structure in A above it should also solve this. I have the option to delete the . files by using a Win7 file copier. IME there isn't an easy way to do this within OSX (others - please correct me).
