Hi All

Apologies for being a newbie with a question but I suppose I have to start somewhere!

I'm having an issue restoring my macs backup.

Basically my iMac 27's (3.06 2 Core) hard disk packed up two weeks ago. Luckily I had bought an iomega back-up drive the week before and had set-up time machine so my data is ok.

I got my mac back today from apple with a new HD and a new screen (I had a few dead pixels so they replaced my screen ;>). The first thing I noticed was that OS X 10.6.8 (Snow leopard?) was installed rather than Lion, which was what was on it when it went into the shop.

This means I cant just use the 'CMD-R' key combo at start-up and restore from my backup.

I also know that I cant re-install when I'm logged in (as you cant overwrite files that are in use).

So I'm a bit perplexed as to how I go about restoring my back-up.

To make things a bit more interesting my mac came back from the shop with a dvd boot-disk for Mac OS X 10.6.1!

(I might just use all these numbers when I next buy a lottery ticket!)

Can anyone tell me how I go about re-installing my Lion based back-up?

Regards
Craig.
