I've finally got a smart phone!

After using a Nokia 6230i candy bar phone for the past 13 years, it finally died.

My wife gave me her iPhone 6s which is currently synced to her iTunes account.

I connected the iPhone to my iTunes account thinking I could just hit 'restore' and the phone would be back to factory settings and I could then sync my stuff to the phone.

When I connect the phone to my iTunes account, I click on the "restore iPhone" button, I then get a message stating "do you want to back up the iPhone's settings before restoring the software" .... I click "don't back up" and then I click on "restore" ...I then get a message box pop up stating "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "xxxx xxxx's iPhone" The requested resource was not found"

So, the iPhone still has all my wife's pics / music etc on it even though it's connected to my iTunes account.

Any ideas how I can restore the phone and then get it to sync to my iTunes etc??

iTunes states the iPhone is software is up to date iOS 11.2.1

The iTunes version is 12.5

Laptop is running macOS Sierra 10.12.5

Laptop was connected to internet during attempted sync.

Although iTunes says iPhone software is up to date, on the phone, under 'software update' it shows that iOS 13.1.1 is available....

I'd appreciate any help, thanks

The phone is still registered under her account. When you link it to iTunes you need to point it to your account otherwise it will keep reverting to her backup.

Many thanks for the reply. I've connected the iPhone back to my iTunes account, but I cannot see how I can 'point' it to my account to stop it reverting to my wife' backup......

On the phone, go into Settings, iTunes and App Stores and make sure your apple ID is listed.

Thanks for the reply.
I've signed into my Apple ID on the phone, connected to my iTunes and still get the same "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "xxxx xxxx's iPhone" The requested resource was not found" message.

Also, I've connected the phone to my wife's iTunes account and tried to restore it from there (back to factory settings), but still get get he same error message as above. I thought it would restore no problem on her iTunes due to the fact as it's been connected / synced many times without any problems.

I just don't know why it won't restore, what's this 'requested resource' that cannot be found?????

On the phone did you go into Settings, general, reset, and then Erase all content and settings? That will reset the phone to when it first came out of the box. You could then set up your phone the way you want and restore from itunes
