Problem sending using Mac mail OSX 10.6.3

I just got a new MBP. I set up my account and was sending and receiving mail just fine. mI rebooted my MBP after calibrating the battery and now I can receive mail but I can't send.

All the ports passwords etc., are just as i had them originally when it worked. Also, I've had no problems sending email via my desktop PC with the same account settings and ports.

Any advice would be much appreciated
