MacBook Pro 16" 2019

2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7

Memory 16GB

Running macOS Monterey 12.2

Problem:

  1. Reboot into Recovery Assistant using Command R
  2. First Screen shown is Activation Lock Screen. Does not show user icon or anything. Shows Mac Smiley face and says to enter Apple ID. I enter Apple ID and then my Apple ID Password.
  3. Then Takes me to a window that has my username and icon with fields that say "New Password" and "Verify Password"
  4. I put in a new password and verify the password
  5. Says: "Could not verify credentials because directory server does not support the requested authentication method."

Click Exit to recovery.

When I go to Utilities/Startup Security Utility to allow booting from external it says:

Authentication Needed (Obviously)

You will need to authenticate as an Administrator to change the boot Security Settings.

Gives button to "Enter MacOS Password"

Click Button

Gives Warning that "No Administrator Was Found"

Only option is "Okay"

Could possibly be something simple or not. If anyone has any suggestions or had the same problem and fixed it, please let me know.

Thanks.
