Problem Turning on after SMC v1.9 update

I just downloaded the update today on my 2013 MBA that I purchased in July. I was able to work on it after the update. However, once I tried to work on it several hours later it wouldn't turn on. All I hear is the fan. I tried the SMC reset multiple times, but it didn't work. I'm not worried about the computer being replaced, all I want is the info off the SSD. What are the chances this will happen? Also, any other ideas on the issue besides going to the Apple Store?
