anyone having a issue getting the update on the phone from apples servers? keeps saying cant connect down

I have downloaded ok, but keep getting stuck at "verifying update with Apple". :-(

I had some issues trying to download the update. It kept stopping at different points (80mb, 150mb, etc.) - I just kept trying and it finally made it all the way. I am sure their servers are getting hammered right now from everybody trying to do the update.

I sorted my problem - self-inflicted!

I needed to revert this hack to my hosts file….

WTF? I can't update to 4.01 or 4.1 due to a failure to connect to Apple's servers. I can download the sw but the verification servers keep failing.

Did the same to mine.

Solution:
Download from another source. Not Itunes.
Connect iPhone to Itunes
If using a MAC, click hold down ALT and click RESTORE.
Window should pop up, locate the downloaded version.
Click restore.
Done!ios4.0.1
