iOS Problem uploading my app to itunes no ".app bundle"

Ok so I am uploading my application to itunes connect and when i try to upload my application binary I get this error

"The binary you uploaded was invalid. It did not contain a .app bundle."

and that statement is not correct because in the .zip file there was the .app file.

What do I do i am so close but it wont upload

Are you zipping the .app bundle or the contents of the .app bundle.
