Problem using Migration Assistant - folders say "do not have sufficient priviliiges"

I used migration assistant to move my old Macbook over to my new MBP (it took 3 hours! Used an ethernet cable though)

I expected to have all my photos, music etc. all installed, but nothing was there. When I went into users, I found the files - but when I try to open then, it says "This file cannot be opened... you do not have sufficient access privileges"

One thing - when I was migrating, it said that I had the same user profile on my new machine, so I renamed the user profile from my old Macbook...

Any idea how I can work around this?
