Hi all,
I am a new 15" 2011 MBP high end (high res) owner and i really love it.
recently i've been trying to watch a mkv file (8 gb 1080) with divx player
, tried to use the integrated gpu and it looks pretty bad, the movie is not streaming smoothly and the cpu load is quite intensive.
I understand the cpu load, but this is supposed to be a piece of cake for this beast, why can't i see the movie streaming smoothly?
thanks

I didn't know people still use divx.

Try playing the video with VLC. That should tell you if there's something wrong with the particular player or if it's the movie file. If it plays the same way, it's most likely the particular mkv.

Thanks guys,
downloaded VLC, it loads much faster and streams smoothly

VLC will handle most MKV videos. I have found that sometimes it won't play a 1080 video very well and I will have to switch to Plex. If VLC has a problem, sometimes rebooting and opening only VLC helps.
