I'm on 10.3.2 and since the last update whenever I eject my external HD with 2 partitions, one of the partitions fails to eject and then finder completely crashes and needs to restart. It's a huge pain as I need to plug it in and out often to go to meetings etc.

Anyone else get this?

MBP 15 late 2016

To clarify is the drive formatted in HFS+ or APFS?

If APFS I would suggest using HFS+ for now, I had too many problems with external hard drive formatted in APFS and after reformatting to HFS+ it has been far more reliable.

Also have you tested a different drive from another manufacturer, different cable or different port on the MBP?

When you eject the drive did you press Option key simultaneously? In my experience it makes ejecting multiple partitions much smoother.

A couple of guesses: The drive has failed to eject properly several times before you noticed the problem; the multiple improper ejections has caused problems on your internal drive.

Boot in recovery mode and run disc utility on your internal drive and on your external drive.

-- Nope, never mind. Apparently not good for 10.3. You may want to try using Disk Warrior on both drives as well (after trying Disk Utility first).---
