Problem with address book

Hi,

Today I synced my iPhone with my new iMac after transferring from a MacBook Pro

Everything synced perfectly except my contacts. I have a copy of my address book on a hard drive but every time I try to import it my contacts appear and then a second later disappear again. Does anyone know why this is happening? I have no contacts on my iPhone now either
