I know a lot of people have recently been complaining of a drop in their wireless capability after updating to leopard (10.5.2), but i'm still using tiger (10.4.11) and have been having similar problems. It seems to go in and out, but much more out than in. But I seem to have a strong signal when I open internet connection, but each page still loads so slowwwwwwww.
At first I thought it was the router (linksys wrt54g) or the ISP, but I reset the system, updated the firmware, even upgraded my internet service to 10 megs instead of 5 megs (it was a promotional deal and it's actually cheaper now), and my imac's the only computer in the house affected by it.
I should note that I've changed absolutely nothing in the way I've been connected between now and the time when it was working right. I don't even have a phone that could interfere with it and my microwave is nowhere close to my router.
So, that leads me to suspect the wireless card itself. Maybe I need a firmware update on that? But I can't even find how to do that. I have Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0. The Broadcom website is of absolute no help. If anyone knows how to do this, it would be really helpful. And if anyone has any other suggestions they think might work, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
