I just recently got a new computer and updated to Mountain Lion (my previous computer had Snow Leopard). I found the "all my files" tab on the sidebar really annoying and tried to move it to trash, not realising that I could remove it from the sidebar using Finder preferences. It stayed in my sidebar but the search.savedSearch smart folder came up in my trash. Thinking that this would delete all the files on my computer, I clicked "put back" but it didn't work, so I dragged it from the trash to the desktop. I tried to drag it back into "all my files" but got an error message. When I clicked on "all my files", nothing would come up on my Finder but when I tried to open an application, the application would open, but I wouldn't be able to control or use the application and the computer also wouldn't recognise my USB. I managed to fix this by resetting the PRAM and reselecting my hard drive as the startup disk, but how do I safely put search.savedSearch back in All My Files and fix the problem?
