Hi I have Aperture 3.3 and iPhoto 9.3 on mountain lion and I am using the "unified" library which seems to work fine so far except for this:
--if I for example try to browse the library in other iLife apps (eg selecting the photo browser in iMovie to add in pics to a project or by selecting the 'aperture videos' in the iMovie source pane, they are empty.
--Also, if I go into iTunes and choose which photos to share from Advanced menu, if I choose Aperture it will tell me it cannot find the library.
In Aperture I have it always set to generate previews, and it gives me a message that it is doing that when I quit, so I don't think that is the problem with sharing with other iLife apps.
I did create a dummy library with 1 photo in it, and THEN the other apps recognize it, but when I switch back to the "iphoto" library, then for example iMovie thinks it is empty again when I choose Aperture as a source. So it seems even though Aperture is using the same library, other apps think only iPhoto "owns" it. Is this other people's experience? Do you really need a separate Aperture library to be useable in other apps as a source? Or to share to AppleTV via itunes?
