Problem With BitTorrent

OK, I have a weird issue.

Each time I connect to my BitTorrent client it drops my whole internet connection where I have to restart my router. Once I restart my router it works fine. Has anyone experienced this? I read where certain ISP's block BitTorrent traffice, I've tried changing the ports, etc.
