Hi all, I need some help!
I have a PAL GR-DV1800 JVC miniDV camcorder.
I was using it with fine with Final Cut Pro a few days ago but I plugged it in today and it doesn't work with any of my video applications; Ichat, Imovie etc..

Things I have done inbetween when it worked and now:
-Upgraded to Tiger from panther
-Installed software to try and get my usb webcam working - IOXperts & macam
(I have deleted these now)

I'm not sure why it has stopped working - Ive tried disconnecting - powering off etc..
I have an Ibook g4 - it recognises my camera as a firewire device but just doesn't work, which makes it a little more strange!
ichat says that it is being used by another program and the other programs just say its not connected.

Any solutions, recommendations - I would be very grateful!

Thanks
Lewis

Hi, Please see Apple.com support pages. The article is 93804 titled "iMovie can no longer export to camera after installing Final Cut Pro HD or Final Cut Express HD". I had the same problem as you did a while ago, and following the instructions fixed the issue.

I reinstalled imovie and now it works with imovie but still not with final cut pro.

I have a similar set-up using an iBook G4 and a Canon Optura-20 (NTSC). In my experience, making it work is something of a black art. First, be sure you're connecting the camera directly to the FW port on your iBook, not through any daisy-chain. As somebody else said, try all different modes on the camera, and on iMovie (or FC or whatever). If nothing works, plug-in a FW Hard Drive or DVD Burner to confirm that they are working properly. Good luck!

Thanks, but ive tried other fw devices any they work fine - I can get video from my cam in ivideo but fcp still recognizes nothing - is there a chance i have some missing files or something somewhere?
