hi im new to macs and this question probably has a very simple answer.

im trying to download realplayer and when i try to open it on the desktop (double clicking it) it just asks me what application to use to open it and i dont know what to use. if someone could just tell me what i need to use to open it and install it that would be great.

:)
welcome to OSX, and welcome to MR.

where did you download the realplayer? what is the file's extension?

i just found out that it is only for windows. is there a version for macs?

does the realplayer version for macs have the feature where you can download movies of youtube? if not, is there any other programs for macs that can do that?

what's that...windows version?

SNAP!

*sorry for being such a child*

meanwhile,
youtube downloading
you can buy tubesock
http://stinkbot.com/Tubesock/
or can download iSquint
http://www.isquint.org/

iSquint is more manual than tubesock, but gets you the same result (plus it's free)

what you do with iSquint is
1) Fully load the YouTube video you want
2) Open Window/Activity in safari
3) In there is the collection of files running on your browser...the largest one should be a video...double-click to d/l
4) Open iSquint
5) copy the d/l file into iSquint
6) CONVERT!!!
