I have a password-protected excel file (Office 2010) that I'm trying to open in Excel 2011. I have the password, but apparently yet another goofy incompatibility between the Window and Mac versions is that the windows version can have longer passwords than the Mac version. With the last 2 chars I get that annoying "bonk" sound when you type a char when one isn't accepted.

Other than having the the other fellow change the password, is there a known way to convert/remove the password (I tried neooffice, but it doesn't even recognize the file format) or anything similar?

Once again the Office:Mac platform is shown to be stupidly inferior to the Windows version of office because of incompatibilities. I'd understand it if the Windows version was newer, but it isn't. Yeah, I'm bitter.
