Problem with FaceTime

I have a new iPhone 5. I have tried setting up FaceTime but every time I try to turn it on I get the message FaceTime Activation: an error occurred during activation. Try again. I do but get the same message. Is there anything else I can try? I am running OS 6.1 and am on my own wifi network.
