I have three PPC Macs, all running Tiger 10.4.11
They are M8407 (2001 old 15" Mac), A1107 newer 17" mac and a A1085 17". We have been connected to the NBN here in Newcastle Australia, and now that I am connected I am using a direct cable connection to the providers modem instead of the Airport Express connected to the old ADSL modem.
I have no problems whatsoever with my Intel Mac which is great. However, all three of the PPC Macs boot up extremely slowly (if at all) when the ethernet plug to the modem and printer (via a Netgear GS605 router) is connected.
If the ethernet plug is removed, and the airport express turned off, then everything works OK.
Can anyone throw some light on this please ?
Do I need another router, and if so, what one will work. As all the ports on the router are filled, and it is established that the router is at fault, I perhaps should I get another and connect the airport express to the router for the PPC Macs only ?
Any help is really appreciated.
