I recently bought a Plantronics Audio 770. I use it on my iMac for VoIP calls and music during work hours and for gaming at night. So far it was worked really well, except that when I'm on a longer voice call, the mic freaks out. I'll be talking for about an hour, and suddenly my coworkers or friends will say "Hey, your microphone just freaked out. You're all fuzzy and I can't understand what you're saying."

So far I've fixed it by either unplugging then replugging in the USB soundcard that came with the headset, or by opening my sound preferences and manually switching to the built-in mic then back to the headset. This seems to fix the mic problem for about another hour, then it freaks out again. This happens consistently about every hour that I'm on a VoIP call. It'll happen once during a longer conference call at work, and multiple times during a long gaming session in the evenings.

Any ideas what is going on here?
