After unhiding files via terminal command, hiding command does not work. It seems that system doing something (Finder restarts), but hidden files and folders still there. Also neither work special apps for that (Funter, Show-Hide Invisible, etc.).
I am using Xtra Finder. Uninstalled it, because thought that it can cause problem. But even after uninstalling same problem...
MacBook Pro Retina. OS X Mavericks.

Did you use the right command?
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles NO

of course... all of them
Hmm, that's strange.. Normally it would relaunch finder and make the files invisible again, at least on my rMBP this method works.. I suppose you already tried a simple reboot? Then I don't know what else could be the issue.. but I'm sure someone else here on MR can help you out. :)

Exactly. I am also surprised, cuz I never faced this problem with any of my previous Mac. Hope anyone knows this problem...

Why are you unhiding files.

yeah, no stress. just wondered WHY you are doing this? and the answer is....??

Well, I unhided files because I needed to do that) I wanted to know size of hidden folders. Actually, why does it matters? I have done that previously on Mac and Win and never faced that problem. What is matters - that problem is still there...

re-install the OS? run the combo update? something's hosed, and probably easier to fix it than find it...

maybe it's time to stop unhiding/hiding folders, something's obviously been screwed up. those folders are hidden for a reason...
