Problem with iLife o6' -- iPhoto

I just got the upgrade for this in the mail and installed it fine any everything. When I opened iPhoto it said I needed to upgrade my photos so I did but now their are still about 600 photos which are appearing as all white boxes. When I try to make them bigger their is just a big exclamation point in the middle of them. How can I resolve this?

Try reimporting your iPhoto library folder.

First repair permissions using Disk Utility, then reimport your iPhoto library folder as calebjohnston said.

I did that and now it can't locate the originals. i tried spotlighting the photo names and they are not there, but under iPhoto 05' I am 100% sure i had these pictures. Has anyone seen anything like this?
