So I installed the GM just fine on my Air but my imac is giving me some issues. It's an 09 i7. I don't have the orig disks that came with the mac. I do however have my flash drive from my air and 10.5. When I boot to the USB or the CD with 10.5 I get an error after the language select saying that osx can't be installed on this machine please do a restore with time machine. Now I said yes so I could get to the disk utility. I erased my drive and I still get that message. How can I solve this issue to install the GM on a fresh drive?

Go to the GM install, right click and show all contents, extract and burn the .dmg to DVD or a flash drive, install as you normally would on a fresh install.

You can fresh install Lion without installing SL first!
I did this one one one of my dev machines; I ended up deleting my old Leopard partition as part of the process!

Let us know how it works for you ...

I found that the DVD was the quickest b/c the flash drive (32GB) took too long. Ended up using my MBP's DVD on the desktop and hooked-up with firewire to my Mac-mini and it downloaded and installed in about 33 minutes...

I didn't have to do a fresh install of SL...

Ok I will try tomorrow when I can get a hold of a dvd.

By the way the USB from your Air isn't working because that installation is specifically tied to a Air. So trying to install that version of OSX on an iMac pisses it off.

You would need a universal installer disk like you buy straight from Apple... or did.. back in the good old days.

But yea just install Lion fresh and don't install 10.5 or 10.6 first.
