Problem with iPhoto and Picasa for Mac

I downloaded the new Picasa for Mac and it imported the photos in my iPhoto library fine. However, when I actually click on many of the iPhoto pictures inside the Picasa program the picture is blurry because the Picasa program is busy "refining" the picture. Picasa doesn't do this for any of the imported photos that aren't from my iPhoto library. Has anyone else noticed this problem?
