Problem with iphotos after exporting to network hard drive

Hi, I have purchased a LaCie network harddrive to free up space on my laptop. Twice now I have transferrred my iphoto library to the new hard drive. On the first occassion, the thumbnails for each event were missing (please see the attachment for the thumbnails I'm referring to). I deleted the library and reloaded it on there. This time the thumbnails were there. I then started tagging people - all seemed fine. After logging back on last night the thumbnails were missing again, also the "faces" thumbnails missing too ((see second attachment). I tried starting with alt-comm held down, and selected "rebuild the thumbnails small photos" - after this all the thumbnails within events are missing. Can you help me with this please??

problem resolved, ran iphoto library manager to rebuild my library, lost some recent albums but they are backed up
