Problem with Mac installation

Hi all,

I am new to macs and finally made the swtich after being around them for a while.

I know how to install applications because i have done it before.

however when i open the .dmg and drag it to my applications folder i get the loading bar come up and then the macbook pro makes the "purr" noise from the speakers.

Then when i click on applications on the dock the file is there and I can open the application however the image of the programe is not correct, it shows like a no image found sort of thing?

what am i doing wrong?

That is normal behaviour and the image/icon should appear once your started the application. If not, you may need to restart, if you want that icon. But that temporary icon does not mean, that the application is not functioning.
