Problem with macbook connection to TV

I'm connecting my Macbook to my TV using a Mini DVI-to-Video Adapter.

After being unable to sucessfully get a clear picture on my TV, I downloaded SwitchResX.

Now, I can get a perfect connection with my TV, but only for about 10 seconds, then the TV goes black.

Help would be greatly appreciated!
