Problem with Macbook

I left my macbook pro unplugged all night. I went to plug it in and turn it on and it won't fire up. What could be the problem?

Did you give it some time to see if it came back to life after charging it for a while?

Yes. been charging for a little over an hour.

I tap my spacebar alot and it comes out if the hibernate like mode.

Took the battery out,plugged it in and now it works. Phew! Got nervous for a while!!
